Verdens sjældneste sommerfugl

Der forsvinder dagsommerfuglearter hver eneste dag, både kendte som ukendte arter! Man kan ikke afgøre hvilken art der er den mest sjældneste!

Men jeg kan fortælle om de mest kendte sjældne sommerfugle. på Obi island øst imellem Sulawesi og New Guinea findes nok den mest sjældneste i slægten fuglevinger: Ornithoptera aesacus.

En anden kendt historie er fra den store samler epoke i det 19. århundredes. Det er om John McGillivray, naturhistorikeren om bord på HMS Rattlesnake, der besejlede Stillehavet i 1884 -85. Han brugte et haglgevær til sine indsamlinger af Fuglevinger.
På Salomonsøerne nedskød han det først kendte eksemplar af Ornithoptera victoriae.

Her den absolut sjældneste!

Er hybriden som er fundet på Salomonsøen Bougainville. Opdageren Abbe' Alotte of Buin for a hybrid: Ornithoptera allotei (hybrid of O. victoriae x O. priamus urvilleanus):
Denne sommerfugl er p.g.a. sin sjældenhed, en af verdens dyreste solgte på aktionerne, og en allotei han sælges for typisk omkring £4,000.00 (US$7,000.00).
Navngivet af Lord W. Rothschild i 1914, som havde omkring 1. verdenskrig den størst privat ejede samling af sommerfugle og fugle. Altsammen er nu på British Museum.

En sjov historie om en lige så sjælden sommerfugl, er fra Admiralitetsøerne med relationer til Danmark: fra Noona Dan ekspeditionen 1961- 62; som besøgte Manus øen i juni 1962. Hvor en af forskerne med en småkalibrede haglbøsse nedskød en
Ornithoptera priamus admiralitatis (Rothschild, 1915) han.
Der findes i samlinger rundt om i verden ialt 27 kendte eksemplarer! 1 stk. han med gennemhullede vinger på Københavns museum. 9 stk. på British Museum og resten i private samlinger! Lars Andersen d. 17 june 2007

Ornithoptera priamus admiralitatis er den i dag er lokal udbredt og ikke sjælden på øerne.
Jeg tjekkede lige Manus, den største af øerne i Admiralitetsøerne gruppe, jeg kan se at skoven er intakt.
