I det nordlige Asien i Alai mts., Kyrgyzistan til Tian-Shan findes;
Polycaena tamerlana som sammen med Terningsommerfugl, Hamearis lucina
er de eneste 2 arter i Riodinidae familie i Europa & det nordlig Asien.

Banded Apollo, Parnassius delphius (Eversmann, 1843).
A slo-mo video of Parnassius delphius mating.
Mating of Parnassiinae butterflies is often a surprisingly violen affair:
essentially the male attacks the female suddenly and they both drop on the ground.
I think what's happening in this video is the male trying to attach the yellowish sphragis
on the female as they tumble down the slope. Chüy Province, Kyrgyzstan on July 6, 2022.
